Clinical Experience Series: Episode 2
Welcome back to ATP's Clinical Experience Series. In today's episode, we will be highlighting the experience of a now, second year physical therapy student. This is being done with the aim of providing other students with useful information and advice that can help them when their clinical rotations come around.
Name: Tyrece Harriott
Current Year: Year 2
Clinical Rotation Mentioned: Year 1
"It has been an unusual year as we all know the current situation with the pandemic. It has really changed the learning and university student experience for some the better, others the worse. You just have to find your way to adapt and strive with all that is taking place. Currently, clinicals are still in progress. However thus far, it really helps to put everything I've learnt in school into perspective. I would advise the incoming students to get a grip of things as soon as you start. Don't let the content, duties or other responsibilities pile up on you. Find some way to de-stress. Remember to always take a deep breath, realign yourself and go again when something is not going how you want it to. Others have done it, SO CAN YOU!!!"
Thank you Tyrece for sharing your experience with us and from it we can understand more the need for clinical placements as it truly tends to put everything learnt in theory into perspective. The advice given was also very useful and we hope that the incoming students take heed. It is important to stay on top of things from the start and try to balance your academic and extra-curricular activities. Remember to stay focused and continue to believe in your capabilities.
